Dallas Morning News reports Dallas No. 1 for the eighth year in a row in crime per capita among the major cities

Mayor Miller and Chief Kunkle downplay DMN's results.  According to the DMN, "Chief Kunkle said he is most comfortable comparing cities by their murder rates because its difficult to undercount or misclassify them. 'I have no confidence at all making comparisons across cities in anything other than homicides', he said".  The only problem for Kunkle is that homicides are up 9.6% this year-to-date with murders per capita in Dallas running more than twice that of New York City's.  If it weren't for the murders committed by the Katrina evacuees in Houston last winter, Dallas would have easily been ranked #2 in murders per capita for 2005.  Thanks to Katrina, it squeaked from #2 to #3 by a fraction of a percent.  In 2005 in another crime category, #1 Dallas's 1848 burglaries per 100,000 was 36% higher than #2 Phoenix's 1368 burglaries per 100,000.   New York City's rate was 295 burglaries per 100,000, which means that a Dallas citizen is more than six times more likely to be burglarized than a citizen of NYC. CLICK to read the DMN article "No. 1 in crime again, but....."

dallascrime.com to address crime & illegal immigration

Over 30% of the inmates in Texas prisons are illegal immigrants.....in California, its over 50%.  With national attention now on illegal immigration, our website will begin focusing on how crimes by illegals are largely responsible for Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and Phoenix ranking #1, #2, #3 and #4 in crime per capita among cities with population over one million.  Don't be fooled by the main stream media spin on this issue.....the savings to the American taxpayer in goods and services provided by illegals is far exceeded by the cost to educate his children, provide health care for his family and incarcerate millions of illegals in our prisons.  CLICK to read about the best solution that I have heard yet to address this immigration crisis in our country.  MORE TO COME on the issue this weekend........

Murders up 9.6% year-to-date according to Dallas Police.

_______________

Katrina evacuees boosted Houston slightly ahead of Dallas in murders per capita for 2005.  Houston posted 16.7 murders per 100,000, edging out Dallas with 16.4 murders per 100,000.  Katrina evacuees responsible for at least 29 murders in Houston.  In murders for 2005 among cities with population over one million, Philadelphia remains #1 per capita, Houston #2 and Dallas #3.  If not for Katrina, Dallas would have repeated its #2 ranking in murder.  CLICK to read recent Houston Chronicle article on the subject.

COMING SOON!!!!

Dallas City Manager, Mary Suhm, says that she has worked in the police department and she knows that Dallas just can't hire and train more than 50 police a year.  If so, then how did New York City hire and train 2326 police a year in 1998 and 1999?  The increase in the number of police in New York City in the 1990's, along with the adoption of "broken windows policing", cut crime by over 60% during the two four-year terms of Rudy Giuliani, making NYC the safest major city in America.  A Dallas citizen is now twice as likely to be murdered as a citizen of NYC and six times more likely to be burglarized.

Mary.......how can NYC hire and train 2326 police a year and Dallas can only hire and train 50 a year?   Maybe city government in New York City knows what it's doing?  It's obvious that you don't, Ms. Suhm.  MORE TO COME......MUCH MORE!!!!!

WELCOME TO THE WEBSITE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE RECENT MEDIA BLITZ ALERTING DALLAS CITIZENS TO THE SEVERE CRIME CRISIS IN OUR CITY.  CLICK HERE TO READ THE "LETTER TO THE EDITOR" THAT INITIATED THE FRONT PAGE HEADLINE IN THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS DECLARING THAT  DALLAS HAS #1 BIG-CITY CRIME RATE!!!

This new website will keep the citizens of Dallas informed about the high crime in our city.  It will provide an objective and unvarnished perspective of the overall crime situation and encourage citizens to become active and demand that the city government and business community get their heads straight and make the reduction of crime priority #1.  Improving parks & streets is important, but making them SAFE is much more important!

EVERY YEAR ......FOR THE LAST EIGHT YEARS.....DALLAS CITIZENS HAVE BEEN CRIME VICTIMS AT THE HIGHEST RATE IN THE NATION AMONG CITIES WITH POPULATION OVER ONE MILLION.

The average citizen in Dallas is not aware that he is living in a city with the worst overall crime rate among major cities.  For the last EIGHT years Dallas has had the HIGHEST total crime rate per capita and HIGHEST burglary rate per capita of all major U.S. cities with population over one million.  Year after year, Dallas has consistently ranked #1, #2 or #3 among these major cities in all crime categories tracked by the FBI.

In the 1990's, while Mayor Kirk built a stadium and the crime rate in Dallas trended upward, Mayor Giuliani reduced crime in New York City by over 60%.  Mayor Kirk left us our city with a murder rate double that of Mayor Giuliani's New York City.  We have our work to do, but if New York, a city with a population eight times greater than Dallas, can reduce crime......then Dallas can.   To solve a problem, you must first admit that you have a problem.  Thanks to the recent outing of the high crime rate by the local media, we have finally admitted that we have a problem !  CLICK HERE to read a transcript of Mayor Giuliani's last speech as Mayor of New York City where he discusses what was done to reduce NYC's high crime rate during his term from 1994 thru 2001.  His speech is timely as it gives Dallas a blueprint to follow as it takes its first serious steps to combat crime.

DALLAS #1 AGAIN IN 2005 IN TOTAL CRIME PER CAPITA*

*CRIME IS DOWN 5.3% OVERALL IN DALLAS FOR 2005.  IN THE OTHER MAJOR CITIES (POPULATION OVER ONE MILLION), CRIME IS DOWN AN AVERAGE OF 7.5% FOR THE YEAR, LEAVING DALLAS WITH THE HIGHEST CRIME RATE PER CAPITA AMONG MAJOR CITIES FOR THE EIGHTH (8TH) YEAR IN A ROW.  PRELIMINARY STATS INDICATE THAT DALLAS SHOULD MAINTAIN ITS HIGH CRIME RANKING IN EACH FBI UCR CATEGORY AND QUITE POSSIBLY MOVE UP IN CATEGORIES OF ROBBERY (FROM #2 TO #1) AND AGGRAVATED ASSAULT (FROM #4 TO #1).   RELATIVE TO OTHER CITIES......DALLAS IS GETTING WORSE - NOT BETTER -  CHECK BLOG PAGE FOR FURTHER ANALYSIS

_____________________________________

In Dallas, with the nation's highest burglary rate per capita among cities with population over one million for eight years in a row ---- the city's mayor and police chief have implemented a brillant idea ---- let's just quit responding to commercial burglar alarms!!!  According to the Dallas Morning News ---- Dallas police will no longer respond to commercial burglar alarms until after  the business owner, an employee or a private patrol has first travelled to the property and visually verified that a burglary is in progress.  THIS AIN'T NO JOKE!!!  The two largest cities that have implemented this "verification" policy, Salt Lake City & Las Vegas, have seen 7% to 33% increases respectively, in burglary per capita since 2001.  Los Angeles adopted and then rejected verified response in 2003 citing an increase in burglaries and overall crime in cities that adopted the policy.  Dallas is already the worst major city in the nation for burglary.... now it's gonna get even worse.  The city will come up with any excuse, no matter how outrageous, not to do the one thing that must be done before we can significantly reduce crime in our city ..... HIRE MORE POLICE!!!   It has been nearly three years since Bolton was fired and the city has done nothing of substance to reduce crime.  NO SIGNIFICANT PROGRESS HAS BEEN MADE!!!  COMPARED TO OTHER MAJOR CITIES, IT'S GETTING WORSE NOT BETTER!!!

MAYOR GIULIANI'S FAREWELL SPEECH

The final speech of Rudy Giuliani as Mayor of New York City is extremely relevant to Dallas at this time.  Our city is deteriorating rapidly with the highest per capita crime rate in the nation among cities with population over one million.  In the speech, Rudy addresses the actions taken by New York City that took the city from the nation's "crime capital" to the nation's "safest major city" in his two terms as Mayor from 1994 thru 2001.This dramatic reduction in crime created a "quality of life" renaissance in our nation's largest city.  CLICK HERE to learn how he did it in Rudy's FAREWELL SPEECH.
